Top 10 Romantic Duets

Guess what? It's time for another Valentine's Day post! I love making these lists. It combines a few of my favorite things: showtunes, lists, and romance. YAY!

Today, I'll be discussing my top ten romantic duets from my favorite Broadway musicals. So, we'll just jump right into it.

(Prepare for a whole lot of Sutton Foster...)

10. Accident Waiting to Happen - The Drowsy Chaperone - Troy Britton Johnson & Sutton Foster

This song is just too cute! Janet and Robert singing about being so clumsy, (or an accident just waiting to happen), while Robert stands in a pair of roller skates with a blindfold tied on his head. The music is so sweet, and the voice of Sutton Foster makes it even sweeter!

9. What You Mean to Me - Finding Neverland - Matthew Morrison & Laura Michelle Kelly

The writer, J.M. Barrie and his inspiration, Sylvia Llewelyn Davies, finally realize how much of an impact they made on each other's lives and much they mean to each other. The angelic voices of Matthew Morrison and Laura Michelle Kelly only make it more beautiful.

8. Small Umbrella in the Rain - Little Women - Sutton Foster & John Hickhok

Even though Jo March and Prof. Bhaer fight and disagree on everything, they cannot deny their love for each other. There isn't much to say about this song... Just listen to it, and you'll see why it is loved by so many people.

7. Ten Minutes Ago - Cinderella - Santino Fontana & Laura Osnes

This one is so sweet. When the Prince meets Cinderella. *happy sigh* Everyone loves this story of this show, but I especially love the music! The lovely tune is so lovely, and they sing about love at first sight. How can you not love that?

6. Falling Slowly - ONCE - Steve Kazee & Cristin Milioti

I can't help but be in love with this song. All of the music in this show is astonishing, but this song always stands out to me. It's the first time Guy and Girl sing together, and begin to slowly fall for each other. (Also, Josh Groban rocked this song, too. If you want to listen to his version, it's here.)

5. It Takes Two - Into the Woods - Joanna Gleason & Chip Zien

This song is such a cute one, when the Baker finally realizes that the help of his wife is just what he needed all along. The interaction between the two characters is what really makes this song what it is, but it's just as adorable when you listen to it.

4. It's De-Lovely - Anything Goes - Colin Donnell & Laura Osnes

The classic forbidden love story... They meet in the night, sing a soothing tune, and dance a freaking awesome waltz number! The angelic vocals of Laura Osnes make this song even more lovely than it already was. It's such a classy song, loved by many!

3. Something to Believe in - Newsies - Kara Lindsay & Jeremy Jordan

Just the OTP singing about how much tHEY LOVE EACH OTHER. Woah. Sorry. I just got a little fangirl-y there. Whew! Okay... Anyway... What makes this song so great is... Well, I don't really know, I can't pick just one thing. The actors, the interaction they have, the story. It's all good!

2. Sunrise - In the Heights - Mandy Gonzalez & Christopher Jackson

AHH. I'm in love with this song. The Act II opening when Nina teaches Benny Spanish, and they... And I... And UHHHH. I love it. Lin Manuel-Miranda is a genius. I. Can't. Even. Just listen to the song, and you'll fall in love with it, too.

1. I Turned the Corner/I'm Falling in Love With Someone - Thoroughly Modern Millie - Gavin Creel & Sutton Foster

Millie has always been my dream role, and this song just makes me want to play her even more! This particular song is one of the very under appreciated, and commonly forgotten song, but is easily one of my favorites from the show. The melody is so lovely and the words are so clever, and of course, the singers are spectacular. #SUTTONISQUEEN. It's kinda hard not to love this song!

Day Number: 958 :T

#awesomeuseofQueenSutton
Ok, maybe I'm exaggerating a little bit. It only took 11 days to find out that

I'M TEENAGE FIONA!

So, you know that show I said I auditioned for in my last post? Yeah. The cast list is up. And well, I made it in! I sent in an audition for the show two weeks ago, and here I am. Blogging about my triumph! (*quotations*)

Well, I'm also a Duloc Dancer and Little Red Riding Hood, but you know.

Even though I had to say goodbye to a show this past weekend, I am happy to say that after the Tribute, I will be saying hello to a Teenage Fiona in Young Actors Playhouse's production of Shrek the Musical. And I couldn't be happier. ^-^

Imma just put my audition video here: I Know It's Today- YAP Audition And while you're at it, why don't you go ahead and click on that little subscribe button. That'd be cool ;) And I hope you like my little blooper at the end of the video. XD

That's pretty much it. Byeeeeeeeee!

Yours Truly, Hayden Beth

WOW

I haven't written since February. A lot has happened since then!

Well, since I don't have anything to write about, I decide to catch you all up on my life.

Barney Stinson from How I Met Your Mother putting his thumbs up. Ok, first of all, I would like to state that I haven't been very active at all, whether it be exercise, social media, or going outside. So, WARNING WARNING this is going to be boring. :|

I just finished an a Cappella show called Shout! over the weekend. And I auditioned for another show that happens in July. :D

Our next upcoming show in May is our Tribute to Broadway (T2B). The title of our show does it the utmost justice. It is a tribute. To Broadway. So pretty much all we do is sing songs from Broadway shows, that we may or may not ever do. It's pretty cool. I have a solo in one of our girl songs called Forget About the Boy from Thoroughly Modern Mille. #ultimatedreamrole I cried that night and it was the best. I'm Millie!

So, yeah. I'm tired. And I am waiting for a cast list...... :T

Top Broadway Boyfriends

Okay, so with Valentine's Day coming soon, I'd like to do a Valentine's Day post. I was inspired to do this list by Broadway.com.  They made their own list, but I decided to change it up just a bit. (Go check out their list here.)

So, without further ado, Top Broadway Boyfriends!

1. Aladdin ~ Aladdin on Broadway Aladdin may be a street rat, but he is truly wonderful. (Dare I say, "A Diamond in the Rough"?) With a heart of gold, and his loyalty, he would be the perfect boyfriend in my mind. He treats Jasmine like a princess even before he finds out that she's royalty!

2. The Baker ~ Into the Woods No, I'm not talking about the Baker in the very disappointing Into the Woods movie. No, I'm talking about the Baker in the wonderful Original Broadway Cast in 1991. Yeah, there's a difference. He is super sweet and romantic. He may have kept sending his wife away, but he was protecting her. Can someone hand me a baker? Like, now.

3. Prince Topher ~ Rodgers + Hammerstein's Cinderella His silly personality and oblivious mind makes him even cuter than he already is. But he also pursues a girl who left him, he really needs to give her some space. Not exactly boyfriend material.

4. Jack Kelly ~ Newsies Wow. Just. Wow. He may seem like a tough guy, but he really is a romantic newsboy inside. Isn't that what all girls want? (Especially the newsboy part? ^-^) And besides, Jeremy Jordan. I WANT TO BE THE SOMETHING HE BELIEVES IN. GIVE HIM TO ME. GIVE HIM TO MEEEEE.

5. Jimmy Smith ~ Thoroughly Modern Millie Okay, even though he was "seen" with Miss Dorothy, it doesn't mean he was actually with her. (She might actually be his stepsister...) Come on, Millie. HE CLIMBED A BUILDING FOR YOU. Yeah. That's what I call love. Oh, and not to sound greedy, but he also is a multi-millionare in disguise. He is the perfect green glass lover.

6. Marius ~ Les Misérables He fell in love with a girl he just met, and told his best friend, (who also has a huge crush on him) to find out where she lives, go deliver a message to her, and he is completely oblivious to her feelings. If this is how you treat your best friend, what kind of boyfriend/husband will you be?

7. Pippin ~ Pippin He may be cute, but he left his job, killed his dad, and joined the circus. Yeah, I don't think so.

8. Raoul ~ Phantom of the Opera Most of us Phangirls aren't huge fans of Raoul anyway. He's not exactly husband material. Not really close to boyfriend, either. He's pretty whiny. Sorry Raoul. #TeamErik

9. Fiyero ~ Wicked His reputation might be "scandalicious", but do you really want a guy who just dances through life? I don't know. Just my thoughts.

10. Jamie Wellerstein ~ The Last 5 Years Okay, obviously he did love Cathy, but he left her to party with the same twenty jerks he already knows. He never saw her shows, and he wasn't really there for her. Sorry, Jamie. :(

How To Survive Crunch Week (Complete with GIFs!)

Let's play a guessing game. I'll describe it, and you can try to guess what it is.

Rehearsals every day for five hours straight, hot dressing rooms, crazy castmates, deoderant, cast parties, lack of sleep, and cough drops. You guessed it!

Crunch Week.
Or as some theatre troupes call it:
Production Week.
If my calendar is correct, we start tomorrow.

.....

WHAAAATTT.

If you're not a theatre kid, you can tell that Crunch is a hard time for us. Now, if you ARE a theatre kid, you know that Crunch can be a blast, but a terror at the same time. Now, I have come up with a list of what to do to keep our sanity.

1. Don't panic.

You do NOT want to be like Timone and Pumbaa above. ^^^ It's not healthy, especially during Crunch. All you need to do is learn all of your lines, choreography, and songs in 24 hours. Simple. Haha. NOT.

2. Stay rested.

Oh, you know. Just so you don't punch all of the overdramatic newbies in the face. Oh! And so you can keep up with your director's directions. That too. XD And besides, your performance will be sloppy if you don't get any sleep. Take it from the girl who makes a mistake in every Saturday performance.

3. Keep it positive!

(As you smack her to the floor..? Hahaha.) Make sure you have a great attitude when you walk into the theatre. How can you not have a great attitude? IT'S THEATRE. Just remember, all of your problems go away if you sing about it. Well, not really. But hey, show tunes!

4. Keep yourself busy.
<< *le not a GIF

Whether it's reading a book, or singing a song about reading books, there are hundreds of things to do when you're in the greenroom. (Well, not in our greenroom. (Our greenroom isn't even a room D:)) Homework is always a good idea, though no one ever gets any done. ...... What? It's true.

5. TEA.

You may not be a tea person, but I am! Thanks to my friend, Taylor, I am addicted. Even though tea is great for any time of the year, it's perfect for Crunch! ^-^

6. And I quote from Aaron Tveit:

All of my resources say that you might freak out under all of the stress, but I believe that you can do it! You are an actor, after all!

7. Have a blast!
<< Gotta love Friends. XD

Ok, even though all of these posts say that Crunch Week/Tech Week/Production Week is super stressful, it is a whole lot of fun! So make the best of it, it's only for a week or two.

Well, thank you for reading my Survival Guide to Crunch! I hope it helps. Oh! And the GIFs. GIFs always make me happy. ^-^ Goodnight, and happy Crunch Week!

Yours Truly, Hayden Beth
